Eliminate Violence Against Women

Violence against women isn't something that should be considered for one day a year. Read about the successes of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and pledge to take action all throughout the year to end violence against women. Unifem has suggestions for action you can take. Leave suggestions for actions, or actions that you've completed, in the comments.

  1. This is an ongoing pledge that should be fulfilled as often as possible.

Only when the abuse of power in any form is disallowed or preferably abolished, will we have anything that approaches a civilized world.

As a community, we need to expose, to hold accountable, and to "properly recognize and treat" the abusers ! ! !

There are far better ways for a man to prove himself aside from committing acts of violence against women. Real men do not strike, harm or kill women. We need to get this message across to as many men as possible in our society, and around the world. If you want to prove yourself as a man, stand up for something you believe in.

Help me fulfill my pledge to stop violence on women as well, but this time it is the promotion of women fighting each other over a man.  LeToya Luckette and a Brooke Valentine each have music videos that promote a woman going after the other woman her man cheated on her with. In the video from LeToya she sings about putting her foot on the girls neck and the hook of the song is "Swing batta, batta, batta, swing mad up at her at her.  All the while she is dancing with a Crystal encrusted baseball bat.  She gives the guy a lap dance telling him how she can deal with his baby mama, and she a ride or die chick...LeToyas' people contacted me on Twitter to tell me that it is just entertainment, that woman wanting to beat another woman up over a man with a baseball bat is ENTERTAINMENT,WOW.  Brooke Valentines' video is just as bad, it is a party situation and she sees the other woman they have words and at the end of the video she clocks the girl knocking her out.  That is not the end, Li'L Jon a man, comes over to the girl while she is on the ground, says something to her and then stomps on her.  Again this is supposed to be ENTERTAINMENT, we have to tell everyone that violence is violence no matter who does it and it needs to stop.  Please sign my peptition to send a message to the these people who celebrate this ideology that is killing women and promoting the abuse of women. Tell everyone who signed your petition to sign mine so we can send a message...Thank You...

Violence can manifest in so many ways, not allowing someone to sleep and constantly molesting....some men just do not care, and that is violence also.

I am a woman who was abused by her husband.  When I had enough money and a place to relocate to I moved out.  My husband came looking for me.  I told him to leave or I would call the police, which in fact I did do.  That made me feel good that he could no longer abuse me and that the police would protect me.  However this has left a big scar in my heart.  I hope no woman has to ever go thru what I did. Good luck to all, and God Bless.

Across the nation there are women that are still undergoing violence in Americans workplaces and they are being treated unfairly by workload, compensation, and discriminated against in many ways.  Women are being discriminated against in trying to higher their education in colleges undergoing violence.  Many women undergo abuse in their own homes and it is time for America to past better laws that help women be treated as human beings. The violence against women in our nation has went on long enough and it is time to put a stop to any violence against women and their families.
